Presidents Message

From the desk of Jeff "Doc" Stewart:                                    July, 2008

Another busy month with events and happenings with Rolling Thunder NH Chapter 1.  The season is truly upon us and we are going full bore!!!!  We had the Wall That Heals and the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Service at Boscowen with great turn outs and participation.  We have our Fallen Member Ride, and Rolling Thunder II right around the corner and lets not forget the Tilton Cookout and Liberty House.  It comes hard and fast once the sun starts shining and the snow is gone!

From more of a business perspective, we do have elections in September.  As you know we had a clarification in the Constitution discussed at the July Meeting regarding full patch holders and nominations/elections.  I encourage all of you to please read through the Constitution and Chapter By-Laws.  We are looking to add 2 additional Board members this year so 1 position will be for 1 year and the other position will be a 2-year election.  This will bring the Board of Directors to 6 members and a Chairman.  This staggered 1-year / 2-year terms will put us on track with the concept that each year there are a few officer positions and half of the Board Members up for election/re-election.  We are still looking for participating alternate board members and as I discussed last month a Historian position which would be appointed.  So there are ample opportunities for members to become involved with the operational aspects of the Chapter.  And for those of you who are not inclined at this time or have not yet obtained your full patch set, there is still plenty to be done.  Some of the events that we participate in are working events where your help is much needed.  For example the Thunder Run II is a great ride but it is a fundraiser for us and we need to work the event, Liberty House, NHMS, Tilton Cookouts, it is very important to be there and show support but your actual assistance with the tasks needed during the event is as much of a need as your hearts.  To put it bluntly, we need your hearts and your hands – so to speak.

For those of you who have and are consistently stepping up and jumping in, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.  It is the efforts of the Chapter masses that allow us to be so successful in NH and in the New England area.  And I can say with the utmost confidence that our reputation and function as an active POW/MIA, Veteran’s Rights organization is growing in a very positive and strong direction.  Again THANK YOU.

Be Safe & Healthy,
